Probably the worst food I’ve eaten in Malaysia. Not only that the dosa and the idli was hard but I also got extremely sick and fell down after walking 100m from the place. My gut has never painted this bad and I have so much cramps.

The Service:
When we walked in, the restaurant was empty except for an older gentleman, possibly the owner, sitting there. He didn’t check on us or acknowledge us. We waited around 10 minutes for someone to take our order, and finally, a gentleman came over. The food then took more than 20 minutes to arrive, and we were starving by that point.

The Food:
I ordered the banana leaf meal (I’ll attach a picture so you can see my disappointment). They served an overly sweet butter chicken that looked like it had chili sauce as the gravy, along with an unusual brown gravy, a bowl of yogurt, and chicken 65. The dish didn’t come with any vegetables. My partner ordered Maggi goreng double, which tasted okay but had an overly “eggy” taste. The onion pakora was nice but arrived so late that it became soggy. I had to ask for the mint sauce. We also ordered a cheesecake, which took nearly 20 minutes to come out, and when it did, it had been microwaved, served with cheap vanilla ice cream, and cost RM20.

Overall, it wasn’t what I expected from a place named “Southern Spice,” especially with a Kathakali dancer face printed on the menu.

I had a very disappointing experience here and would not recommend this place to anyone. I came to enjoy a dosa, but instead of sambar, they served dal meant for rice or roti. When I raised this with the Indian chef, he rudely dismissed my concerns, saying, ‘Everyone eats it like this here.’ I politely requested a change, but he outright refused and insisted I eat what was served, despite knowing I was dissatisfied. The food lacked authenticity, didn’t taste good, and was not prepared as it should be. Overall, an unpleasant experience.
