What a fantastic Shojin vegan restaurant in Tokyo. We got the 12 course vegan Shojin meal. Be warned the portions are filling with soup and rice, so come hungry! There's also a smaller menu choice. We had no issues eating it all though as the quality, flavor, creativity and playing were all 5/5. Every course was delicious highlighting a modern, fine dining experience of the traditional vegan Japanese Buddhist diet. The wine was great too. Service was lovely and hospitable. The restaurant is a little hard to find on the 3rd floor and up and elevator. A must eat experience for awesome vegan food in Tokyo.
Fantastic Shojin ryori kaiseki meal. I enjoyed the house made sodas and highly recommend the ginger-ale. Each course was plated by the staff and chef in front of us. Some highlights were the burdock root sushi, braised daikon, and the most custard-like persimmon. It was great to talk with the chef and understand how he got into cooking Buddhist vegetarian cuisine. Highly recommend
Absolutely fantastic vegetarian restaurant. They only offer tasting menus for dinner and we chose the 7 dishes + 1 dessert option. Every dish was delicous and the portions were small but filling. The different textures in the courses and the food presentation was outstanding. At the end, they also give you a cute chopstick case and they let you keep your chopsticks and napkin. That was a really cute touch to the experience. Really fun to sit at the counter and watch them make the food.
This is a pure vegetarian, Buddhist-inspired restaurant. In the evening it is a tasting menu with the option being either 7 or 9 courses. The food is interesting and beautifully presented. However we found very little engagement from the staff and a rather dull atmosphere. Would not return.
