Soam, located near Babulnath Temple in South Mumbai, is a renowned vegetarian restaurant specializing in Gujarati and Rajasthani cuisine. It has this cozy ambiance with traditional touches, enhancing the dining experience. Signature dishes we tried: Panki: A steamed rice-flour batter delicacy spiced with turmeric, green chilies, and cumin, served wrapped in banana leaves. Daal Baati: A classic Rajasthani dish of lentil curry paired with baked wheat rolls, often enriched with ghee and chutney. Sugarcane Juice: A naturally sweet, chilled beverage, with light notes of lemon and ginger, perfect for cooling off in Mumbai's heat. Soam is celebrated for its authentic flavors and cultural essence, making it a popular spot for traditional vegetarian fare. Even something so basic as the sweet mango pickle was truly exceptional. Our server for the day Glen Fernandes was exceptional, and helped us pick some takeaway food as well.

Soam – A Long-Awaited Visit, Totally Worth It! We had been wanting to visit Soam for a long time, and finally, the day arrived! As we stepped in, the ambiance felt warm and inviting, with a traditional yet modern touch. The place was almost full, which was a great sign of its popularity. Refreshing Start To begin, we ordered Lassi, Mango Lassi, and Jal Jeera. The lassi was thick and creamy, while the mango lassi had the perfect balance of sweetness and fruitiness. The Jal Jeera was refreshing, a great way to awaken the taste buds before the meal. Appetizers – A Mix of Hits & Misses One of the highlights of our meal was Khichu – it was soft, flavorful, and absolutely delicious! This was our first time trying it, and we loved it. Next came the Snack Platter, which was a great mix of flavors and textures – totally worth ordering. Main Course – Almost Perfect! We went for Puri and Undhiyo, a classic combination. While the puri was perfect, the Undhiyo was a bit of a letdown. It was bland and didn’t have the rich flavors we were expecting. Plus, it was a green Undhiyo, which was quite different from the usual one. Sweet Ending To wrap up the meal, we ordered Moong Dal Halwa, and it was heavenly! The texture was just right, with the perfect amount of sweetness and richness. Definitely a must-try if you visit Soam. Extra Touches A nice detail was the Chunda, Achar, and Green Chutney placed on every table,

We went to this place for lunch and the food was pretty nice. The amount of food was filling and had a lot of flavour. The atmosphere was okay but it was very busy and we had to wait about 15/20 minutes. They did make the most of the time and the servers were nice and efficient. Though it was busy, we didn't feel rushed but I think if you wanted a more relaxed environment, this would be a bit too hectic.

SURELY WILL NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE WHO WANTS TO TRY THE FIRST TIME The green chatni...very watery....the green chilli old stock. The Jowar pita pockets is only filled with salad....basically tasteless food THIS WAS MY 2nd TIME COMING HERE & WILL BE MY LAST... SWATI HAS MUCH BETTER TASTE
