A wonderful Malaysian busy restaurant in the heart of Brisbane. This place was almost full when we visited for lunch on a weekday. The place had load of seating area with minimal functional decorations. The service was pretty quick. There wasn’t a long wait for ordering and food coming to the table. We enjoyed all the food we ordered. They were pretty delicious.

No crab served until after 5:30pm was a disappointment since the other foods we tried were quite tasty. ?Malay Combo Laksa (5/5): loved that they used two types of noodles in this, perfect balance of flavors ?Nasi Lemak w/ Ayam Goreng (3/5): dish seemed overall bland vs other items, the star of the show was definitely the crispy anchovies. The prawn cracker was stale, the ayam goreng was juicy but lacked flavor. ?Mee Goreng (5/5): my favorite dish, slightly more on the sweeter side, but it had a great wok taste ?Salted Egg Prawn (3/5): this dish must be enjoyed super hot and fresh else the batter kind of overwhelmed the succulent prawns. Batter was too thick and the salted egg yolk was delightful but not quite as pungent as other restaurants. ?Roti Kaya (5/5): quite sweet but delicious, you can have this served afterwards as a dessert or during, but make sure you eat it fresh else the crispness of the dough softens with the kaya filling. ?Kang-Kung Belacan (5/5): you can opt for the spicy shrimp paste or garlic fried, ofc had to do the shrimp paste, wasn't too spicy but fragrant and a great balance to the other dishes.

Nice and popular open plan Malaysian restaurant with an authentic menu and authentic food. My laksa was tasty and I was pleased/surprised to see a real curry leaf in it. I will say, it was once of the least spicy laksas I have eaten so they must unfortunately be dumbing the taste down a little to the Queensland palate. Nonetheless, service was surprisingly polite and attentive for an Asian restaurant, so it shows some people can learn and provide an experience they can be proud of. For example, the young male waiter asked me if he can take my dishes, and waited for my answer, before taking them once I had finished. Water was also automatically brought to my table when I sat down. Thank you! Such simple gestures but they were noticed. Also worthy of mention, they don't charge a credit card surcharge! And the prices are still fairly reasonable. I'd certainly go back if I'm in the area again.

Roti Place serves authentic Malaysian food, and the highlight for me was the Spanner crab—so affordable at just $36, with a choice of cooking styles! It’s an honest spot that delivers great food at a fair price. Service was fast, and the floor staff were friendly and attentive. The Char Kuey Teow was good, though it could be even better with more wok hei for that extra smoky depth. Love they include Chinese sausage to it. The only small issue was that the crab could have been hotter. It was serve just ok warm. I understand it’s deep-fried in advance and then stir-fried with the sauce, but a second quick deep-fry before mixing would make it even better. That said, everything was still delicious and satisfying. Definitely a great place for Malaysian food lovers!

The roti were light and delicious. Great portions and prices and tables are comfortable not too close together. With quick friendly service.
