2 Paya Lebar Rd, #01-01/02/03 Park Place Residences at PLQ, Singapore
I recently dined at Rempapa, a restaurant that celebrates Singapore’s rich culinary heritage by blending Chinese, Peranakan, Eurasian, Indian, and Malay cuisines. The assorted kueh platter was a highlight, featuring traditional treats like kueh salat, ondeh ondeh, huat kueh, and taro kueh. however, there is a minimum order for kuehs. While the menu offers some vegetarian options, such as the Chickpea Curry and Stir-fried Market Vegetables, the selection is somewhat limited. It’s worth noting that Nasi Lemak is available during brunch hours but not offered for dinner. Overall, the dishes were flavorful; the ambiance was inviting, and the service attentive, making for a delightful dining experience. I look forward to returning to explore more of their heritage-inspired menu. Will recommend if you want a cosy place for dinner.
The salad remains the highlight throughout the meal. It helps to balance the richness and spice well. Steamed threadfin and beef cheek were really good. The fried hakka pork was a let down. $3 white rice was too tiny. It wasn’t proportional with the food. It felt a little off putting as we were forced to double order our rice. At this price point, i don’t see the need to have this sort of sneaky hidden cost. Kueh was alright. Service was rather cold and arrogant.
This Michelin-guide featured restaurant is best known for its Peranakan dishes but they serve more than that! Helmed by MasterChef Singapore judge Chef Damian D’Silva, Rempapa serves a novel cuisine that crosses boundaries among Chinese, Peranakan, Eurasian, Indian and Malay cooking. Here’s what we tried… ? ???????? ($??) Cooked in a vibrant rempah of spices, this Eurasian dish tastes like dry minced otak. It contains a generous amount of fish ? which explains the heftier price tag. ? ???? ??????? ($??) A comforting classic: braised pork in preserved bean paste, bamboo shoots & dried mushrooms. This signature Peranakan specialty is rich and flavorful, though I wished some pieces were a bit more tender ? ? ????????? ???? ???? ($??) Simmered in prawn & pork broth, this slow-braised chap chye is the highlight of our meal ? Don’t forget to pair this with the fiery sambal belachan ? We ordered 2 large plates, 1 small plate and 2 rice to share among two diners and we were so full (probably can skip 1 small plate). Overall, we spent $130 for 2 pax during dinner hours. My first time trying Rempapa and was wow-ed by all the dishes! The taste of each and every dish is so special and flavorful. Children love the Hakka pork and Babi pongteh and adults love all dishes. Ordered the dinner set for 4 persons and did not regret as we got to try many different dishes. Ended our meal with lovely Nyonya kuehs. The kuehs sweetness were just right and not overly sweet. Staffs were friendly and attentive despite them being busy during dinner - special shoutout to Jennifer especially! Will definitely be back again with my family. Thumbs up and definitely recommended!!
Had a wonderful dining experience at Rempapa. The menu is a celebration of heritage flavors, and every dish we ordered was thoughtfully prepared and rich in tradition. The buah keluak fried rice was a standout — bold, earthy, and deeply flavorful, with that signature nutty intensity you’d expect from buah keluak. The beef cheek rendang was fork-tender and full of spice — a real comfort dish done right. Damian’s curry was hearty and aromatic, with a well-balanced spice blend that lingered just the right amount. The chap chye offered a softer, more delicate contrast, mellow and homey with perfectly braised vegetables. The mackerel otah had a lovely texture and a pleasant heat, wrapped beautifully and grilled to perfection. We ended the meal with an assortment of kueh — a sweet finale that didn’t disappoint. Each piece was fresh, with distinct layers and just the right amount of coconut richness. A real highlight! Overall, Rempapa delivers elevated heritage cuisine with sincerity and finesse. It’s a great place to revisit familiar flavors or introduce someone to the depth of Southeast Asian culinary culture. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates bold, nostalgic, and beautifully executed dishes.
