Ubud II Kutuh, Jl. Puskesmas, Sayan, Kecamatan Ubud, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali 80571, Indonesia
This is hands down my favourite restaurant in Bali. Throughout my 4 trips to Ubud in the last 2 years, I have eaten there at least 10 times. I even celebrated my 50th birthday there last year. The food is incredibly tasty and so innovative but what I love most is that it is all made from locally made produce, some of which is from their own garden. I am a dedicated meat eater but if I could eat at Moksa everyday I would gladly become vegan. Chef Made and his team make incredibly tasty dishes with so much flavour that each mouthful is a taste sensation. My absolute favourite dish is the "Asian not squid salad" which is made with fried young coconut but you genuinely think you are eating squid. I loved it so much that I did Chef Made's cooking class to find out how to make it myself. I highly recommend doing his class if you have the time. I also have to have the Turmeric tonic drink each time I go as well, so I haven't tried any other drinks but my friends were all happy with their choices. One time a friend of mine arrived at the restaurant feeling a little unwell and Chef Made personally went into the garden, picked some leaves and made her a tonic to help alleviate her symptoms. We were all so touched by this kind gesture. The "cheese" platter, again vegan, is insanely delicious, as are the Oyster mushrooms, which you find right at the back of the menu, which I failed to see on my first trip there. I have tried so many of their dishes and I wouldn't hesitate to have each of them again. And I still have so many to try. The staff are all so friendly and even recognise me now, as I've been so many times, despite there being 6 months between visits. I can't wait to return.
My all time favorite since many years! The energy of the food you get at Moksa is outstanding, besides the delicious taste I always feel incredibly happy when I eat there. Make sure you try their salmon Benedict which is completely raw vegan! I love all the food, the permaculture that is surrounding you when you eat. I wish I could have this food and feeling very day ?❤️
Moksa is a place unlike any other in the whole world. Words are not enough to accurately describe how incredible the healing food, the environment it’s served in, and the love of the staff that serve it is. We ended up spending all day here twice, and now I’ve had to return asap when I came back two months later. Easily the best restaurant in Ubud. This is the place where vegan food pops the most. The spiced mushroom shawarma is to die for, we had it thrice. So is the laksa, and the Buddha bowl. The raw cheesecakes are unbelievable, I had tears in my eyes multiple occasions. Chef Made made a lovely spiced tea for my partner when she was sick, on his own, without asking - that’s the kind of man he is and what he extends to all his staff - like Mita, who are so lovely, and make you want to come back every chance you get. We took a cooking class with Chef Made, who is a force of nature. His story touched me to the core, and showed me how one man can rise up to create a better space and living experience for so many. You have to see it to believe it.
Easily the BEST vegan meal that I have ever had. This is an absolute must if you come to Ubud, make the journey you won’t be disappointed.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Unbelievable Vegan Food – A True Culinary Adventure! This restaurant is an absolute revelation! The vegan dishes here are unlike anything I’ve tried in Europe—honestly, the quality and creativity are unmatched. Every bite was a new adventure, with surprising and mind-blowing flavor combinations. I still can’t believe how rich and satisfying everything was, even without any meat. It’s proof that plant-based food can be exciting, sophisticated, and downright delicious. A must-visit for anyone who loves food, whether vegan or not. **Pure genius!
