G/F, 3-3A Humphreys Ave, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong
Nom nom nom! The location is super convenient & it’s great to have one that doesn’t require queueing but is just as tasty, and the prices are quite reasonable too. Their special flavours are really good as well. With other brands, I usually find the special flavours not as good as the original, but here every tart flavour is delicious. All the staff at Puffbake have always been very nice to us.
I spotted Marouf & Puff Bake randomly while walking around TST and decided to give it a try. It’s a small takeaway-style bakery with quite a wide variety of puffs and tarts on display, which immediately caught my attention. I tried their classic scone first. Texture-wise, it leaned a bit too dry and slightly tough for me. I usually prefer scones that are more crumbly and light inside, but this one felt denser than ideal. That said, the flavour itself was fine, buttery enough and not overly sweet, just let down by the bake. The more interesting item was the corned beef egg tart. It’s definitely a unique savoury twist on the usual Hong Kong egg tart, and I liked the idea. The flavour combination worked better than expected, slightly salty, creamy, and different from the norm. My only wish was that it had been served warm or hot. It would have lifted the pastry texture and overall enjoyment quite a bit. Price-wise, everything felt affordable, especially given the location in Tsim Sha Tsui where snacks can easily be overpriced. You don’t feel like you’re paying a tourist premium, which is refreshing. It’s not a place you go out of your way for, but it’s a pleasant find if you’re nearby and want to try something a bit different from standard bakery offerings. Good variety, fair prices, and some creative items worth sampling.
If you don't want to wait for a long que at the famous nearby one, this one definitely can substitute or even better in my experience. Delicious cream for egg tart with crispy base. Truly perfect egg tart. Sausage danish also tasty. Corn tart have meat and real egg inside, good for heavier meal. They also have beverage, more expensive that the pastry. We try Chai tea and it's good. Recommended!
Marouf Coffee & Puff Bake was recommended by my friend, so of course we had to check it out. The moment we stepped in, I was impressed by the wide variety of bakery items available. There were so many variations to choose from, especially their egg tarts and croissants. Everything looked so tempting! We ordered quite a spread: Sourdough Egg Tart, Pistachio Egg Tart, Corned Beef Egg Tart, Egg Mayo Croissant, Plain Croissant, Crème Brûlée Latte and Cappuccino. Honestly, most of the items were really good. My absolute favourite was the Sourdough Egg Tart — the crust was crispy with a slight tangy flavour, and the filling was smooth and fragrant. It’s honestly the best sourdough egg tart I have tasted in Hong Kong. The Pistachio Egg Tart was also nice and unique. The only one that didn’t really suit my taste was the Corned Beef Egg Tart. We visited on a Saturday around 11am, and the crowd was still manageable. You can dine in, but there are only a few standing tables, perfect for a quick bite. Overall, Marouf Coffee is highly recommended!
Our HK friend was the first one to surprise us with a set of the Portuguese egg tarts. Wow, amazing! Crispy layers on the exterior with creamy egg cream inside. Different flavors are available as well. Last time we returned to HK, we had to keep going back for these. So good.
