I'm quite impressed by this one, too. I think the store was neat, but the tender, sweet beef ribs paired with spicy sauce just made my stomach happy. I feel like the portion is good enough for $28. The rib was so soft, and the sauce was the star. I am becoming a fan of Indonesian food. Also, it's halal, so good for all the Muslims. Hope to try more.
Great food at an affordable price! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This Kantin offers a variety of delicious Indonesian dishes. The portions are just right, and the prices are budget-friendly. The place is quite comfortable for lunch, though it can get crowded at times. The service is pretty fast, so you don’t have to wait too long. Definitely recommended for a tasty and affordable meal!
Very spacious and bright restaurant with cheerful yellow decor! The food portions were very generous and super flavourful, with a lot of variety and textures even without add-ons. Service was QR code/self-service and food came out a bit on the slower side, but we weren't in a rush so it wasn't a big deal. I also think the food was slower because they timed it so we all received our food at once, which was nice. :)
Had a great meal at Kantin in Carlton! The serving portions were generous and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. We tried the Bakmi Ayam Jamur, Ayam Bakar, and Nasi Goreng — each dish was packed with flavour and tasted authentic. Definitely a spot we’ll be coming back to when we're craving great Indonesian food in the area. Highly recommend!
Kantin offers a great variety of Indonesian snacks, perfect for sharing with friends. The menu has pictures, which makes ordering easy. Sate Ayam Manis – Sweet grilled chicken satay with a smoky flavor, served with chunky peanut sauce. A safe and tasty choice for entrée. Gado-Gado – A classic Indonesian salad I was excited to try. However, the rice cakes had a firm, slightly raw texture — not soft or chewy like I expected — and didn’t go well with the sauce. (Maybe that’s the traditional texture, but it wasn’t to my taste.) The garlic crackers weren’t fully puffed and had hard edges, which made them tough to chew. We found the same issue with the Mie Goreng. Iga Sapi Panggang Kantin – A popular signature dish with two large beef ribs. The meat was fall-off-the-bone tender. If you prefer something lighter, the beef rib with rice set is a good-value alternative. Ikan Bakar Rica – Wonder if it was cooked in banana leaf like the traditional way, but the fish was tender and the rica-rica chili sauce on the skin was delicious and flavorful. A great pick if you like whole grilled fish. Sponge Cake Dessert – Very cute and photogenic! The sponge had a light pandan flavor, though the taste was mild — more fun in appearance than flavor.
