This restaurant has been in Pavilion KL ever since they opened and it says a lot. The food quality here is consistently good. The sashimi platter was fresh and they are very generous with the wasabi too. The dishes we ordered were all good except the Zaru soba which I find it a little undercooked. Prices are on the higher side which is understandable with the quality and service they provide.

This time, it's our 2nd visit to Kampachi at Pavilion KL. On 4th January 2025. What I can gather the service is exceptional from the time we sat and we left the restaurant. I praise the old lady waitress, Suzalina, if I am not mistaken her name for her exceptional service attending to us.

Food is good and I can't complain much for the quality, fresh ingredients, presentation and taste. Price is high, well it matches the standard of the food you are having there. All in all, they served fresh Wasabi. Something I look forward in a Japanese restaurant. If they don't have fresh wasabi, I won't eat them.

However, Kampachi, one thing I have to voice out here which is a turn off. While we are having our meal, we decided to add a sushi dish, we ordered Unagi Uramaki. Indeed in the description it did say spicy, but spicy for Japanese restaurant it's like just adding togarashi. When we ate and the dish it caught us by surprise and it was uncalled for. My wife and I has no issue to this surprise but for our 8 year old son is a No No. What the heck guys, your chef add cili padi to the Unagi Uramaki dish?

Kampachi is not even a fusion restaurant, hey if you are adding a cili padi at least give a disclaimer!   Our other dishes was good but due to this blunder I decided to give 3 stars to the food. We even have a tough time soothing down our crying son, who has to withstand the cili padi ordeal until half an hour later.

Guys, I'm totally disappointed. Due to the price that we are paying its a turn off, a restaurant like yours can't even set a proper disclaimer in their menu.

An overall outstanding meal. Service was exceptional. Yes, some of the prices are quite high, but there are affordable options, as well (set meals, don bowls, bento box, etc.) and it's important to remember that most of their products are imported from Japan. There is a reason that Kampachi has endured in foodie-crazed KL for 50 years!
