Seoul, South Korea
Hang-wa-chae restaurant located in Insadong 10 gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul. The adddress has number 13 and it is down in the basement. The meal costs $30,000 for two and all you can eat. At Hangwachae, the foods are served in clay earthen dishes and everything is fresh and delicious. Each dish has its own unique flavor and taste. What you see is what you get, not imitation of meat like other restaurants. The starters were simple fantastic sesame porridge and tasty spicy vegetable soup and after that food is self-serve buffet style. The place is clean, cozy and pretty with flowers. Local artists paintings hanging throughout the wall. The food is honest, fresh and unpretentious with local ingredients. The sign is in Korean only so make sure to take a picture of the site.
Amazing vegan all-you-can-eat buffet where all dishes were very tasty. Great service as well, where the manager helped give new dishes. Containers are refilled often. Cost is 15000krw pp. Loved the scallion pancake best!
A wide selection of delicious vegan homemade Korean dishes, with my favorites being a black sesame porridge, a vegetable soup, scallion pancakes, kimchi, marinated bean sprouts, a fake meat stew, and much more. The woman and man who run the place seemed to deeply care about their food and guests, with a level of dedication that I've never seen before!
Really tasty Korean food vegan buffet! One of my favorite places in Seoul
It is a pleasure dining at Hangwachae - a wonderful experience that exceeded my expectations! This Korean vegetarian buffet is not only Buddhist-friendly but also a treasure trove of unique and rare vegetables. As someone who loves exploring diverse cuisines, I was amazed by the variety offered here. My mom, who is over 70, remarked that she had never tried many of the 3-4 vegetables served at the restaurant. It was heartwarming to see her discover new flavors and textures that she hadn't encountered before. Hangwachae showcases an array of unique vegetables that you won't find in other parts of the world, making each dish a delightful surprise. The focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients ensures that every bite is both flavorful and nourishing. The atmosphere is inviting and calm, reflecting the wholesome concept of Buddhist cuisine. Whether you're a vegetarian, vegan, or simply curious about Korean cuisine, Hangwachae offers a unique dining experience that is not to be missed. Highly recommended for anyone looking to expand their culinary horizons! Where have you bean all my life?
