29, 23 Lawson Rd, Nuwara Eliya 22200, Sri Lanka
It is a very local place which offers only rice and curry. We chose the vegetarian option for 500 rupees per person. It came with rice and 4 different curries. We really liked the food, it was tasty and had a good level of spice. The atmosphere is very very local, you need to be a bit brave to try it ;-)
Wonderful place for authentic home-cooked food (tastes like how your mother would cook - with love and pride!) The chicken briyani and tomato macaroni are both highly recommended. Waiting times are slightly long but still very reasonable.
Where you see the locals eating you’re bound to find good Sri Lankan food! Although it doesn’t look much from the outside, go in! The food was authentic and delicious served with welcoming and friendly service. There is no menu, rice and curry is served and you can choose between vegetable, chicken or beef. For 2 people we ate for just £4.60 and would definitely recommended and return!
Wow! We had the most delicious meal on our trip. The vegetarian dishes were incredible. Portions are huge. Don't be put off by the dining hall, the food is wonderful and really affordable. The family who the run the restaurant are so friendly and hospitable. We will definitely be back.
Nestled down a small alleyway, this small restaurant radiates warmth even during a heavy downpour of rain. This place epitomizes the notion of a family run business where you are greeted by mother (the chef) and her children/nephews. I had the beef curry with accompanied dishes as recommended and I have to say this was one of the best curries I have had in Sri Lanka thus far. When coupled with the families kindness and desire to have a conversation with you, it doesn’t get much better for dinner settings in Nuwara Eliya or wider still, Sri Lanka
