Visited with a friend for lunch, place was vibrant and was bustling with crowd. We ordered mutton kebab, chicken Alfahm and kabuli pulao. They also served us rajma and baingan bharta to taste. Everything was topnotch, it was full of flavours and we really enjoyed our meal. Mutton kebab was very soft and fresh, so as chicken alfahm. Pulao had 2 soft pieces of mutton and lots of raisins which were not too sweet and was appropriate for pulao. Overall, value for money and must visit place.
If you're craving authentic Afghan food, Afghan Darbar in Lajpat Nagar is the place to be. The food here is rich, flavorful, and straight-up comforting. We started with the Kabuli Pulao, and it was absolutely spot on—perfectly cooked rice, tender meat, and just the right hint of sweetness from the raisins. What I loved was the portion sizes—super generous! We also got Afghani naan and Qorma, both of which were delicious and packed with authentic flavors. The restaurant has a simple, no-frills vibe, but it’s always buzzing with people, including Afghan locals—which is always a good sign. Also, it’s located right in the heart of Lajpat Nagar’s Afghan market, so you get a little cultural experience along with great food.
The food was authentic Afghan, they have not tailored it as per Indian pallet. If you like low spiced food, this is an option for you. Do some homework going through food bloggers review. Note Chopaan kabad, Ujbeki pulao and tandoori chicken are the must haves. Price is moderately placed, while considering them claim to be fine dine they can better the services a little more. Overall a good place to have some authentic Afghan food.
It was good and seemed to be authentic Afghani foods being served. Mostly Muslims from surrounding areas were seen to visit the place. Tastes of the foods were excellent. The ambience was fantastic, a little smaller though. Hand wash facilities can be improved. There’s no proper restroom/toilet/washroom though. Decorations are excellent with traditional Afghan paintings or photos on walls. Cleanliness was OK. Services was good. Waiters were well behaved. It seemed a little expensive to me which may not be for others. But, you should give it a try if you visit Lajpat Nagar market area.
