From 1 December 2023, all foreigners who are entering Malaysia must submit their Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC). But, who does it apply to? Does it apply to entry through land? We break it down for you here!

Who is not affected?

Those who aren't affected are:

  • Travellers who are transiting OR transferring through Singapore without having to clear immigration.
  • Permanent residents in Malaysia and Malaysia Automated Clearance System holders
  • Singaporeans!
  • Diplomatic passport holders
  • Malaysian Permanent Residents
  • Brunei General Certificate of Identity holders
  • Thailand Border Pass holders

Everyone else has to fill up the MDAC form 3 days before your stated arrival date.

Automated Clearance System

Travelling to Malaysia, especially via land has always been notorious for its long wait times, spanning hours. The Automated Clearance System hopes to improve immigration by decreasing the wait time. So, how do you register for it?

The Malaysia Automated Clearance System 2.0 (MACS 2.0) is eligible for:

  • All Singaporeans
  • MACS Holder

For your FIRST VISIT:

  1. Submit your MDAC form 3 days before your arrival date

You can now use your passport for your departure from Malaysia for that same trip!

For SUBSEQUENT VISITS:
