Perfect as a light meal or even a midday snack, oden is a popular Japanese street food that is guaranteed to warm you right up and fill your stomach. Consisting of various ingredients such as fish cakes, fish balls, eggs and more, the dish is commonly served in a classic soy sauce-based dashi broth but you can always switch it up with other flavours.
Just as popular in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia, it’s not surprising to see long lines of people waiting in the FamilyMart convenience store for a bowl of oden. So, if you’re thinking of skipping those queues and making your own bowl at home, this easy halal oden recipe is just for you!
