K-pop fans, have you heard about the famous Inkigayo sandwich that's loved by K-pop idols? Originally created by the cafeteria owner at SBS (Seoul Broadcasting System) for idols and staff attending the network’s weekly music show, Inkigayo, this exclusive snack has been raved about by groups like BTS, Seventeen, EXO and more! It’s got layers of egg potato salad, cabbage salad and get this - strawberry jam ? We have to admit, the combination does sound a little odd but you know what they say: "Don't knock it till you've tried it." While it’s tempting to feed your curiosity by jetting off to Korea and getting a taste of it, a much easier (and less expensive ?) option is to make one yourself. So read on to see how you can put together this unique snack with the easy Inkigayo sandwich recipe below. Ingredients (serves 2)
  • 4 slices of bread
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 potato
  • 1 ½ tbsp mayonnaise
  • 2 cups cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp strawberry jam
  • 1 tbsp cucumber, diced
  • 2 tbsp imitation crab, diced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  1. Peel, cube and boil a potato for about 15 minutes until soft. At the same time, boil an egg for about 6 to 7 minutes, then rinse in cold water and peel the shell.
  2. In a bowl, mash the hard-boiled egg and potato together. Add 1 tbsp mayonnaise and season with salt and pepper, continue mashing until everything is mixed well.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine cabbage, imitation crab and ½ tbsp mayonnaise.
  4. Start assembling the sandwich by spreading the potato-egg mixture on one slice of bread. Cover with a second slice of bread and spread it with some strawberry jam. Lay the third slice and top with the coleslaw mix. Finally, add your last slice of bread.
  5. Cut the crust off and wrap the sandwich using plastic wrap. Slice it diagonally, serve and enjoy!
With this easy Inkigayo sandwich recipe, you’ll be able to fix this rather exclusive snack at home and enjoy it while jamming out to the latest K-pop hits ?
