Given that Ramadan in Singapore this 2020 is marked by unique circumstances, many of us are cooking up our own iftar meals at home and taking this opportunity to spend more time with our family ?  So while you can’t head to the bazaars or go out for supper, why not whip up your own yummy drink to enjoy at home? We’ve rounded up a list of delicious drinks that are not only easy to make but will be great to enjoy with your family as a post-terawih treat!

P.S.Looking for a yummy drink that’s great for both sahur and iftar? Get MAGNOLIA PLUS Fresh Milk with Kurma! Made with only fresh milk and real dates, it has no added sweeteners or additives and is 100% natural ? You can find it on e-retailers and supermarkets (including FairPrice, Cold Storage, Giant and Sheng Shiong), minimarkets & selected provision stores.

1.Date milk & grass jelly (cincau)

We all know the combination of soy milk and cincau, but have you ever tried date (or kurma) milk with cincau? It’s a great combination! The natural caramel sweetness of the milk and its creaminess combined with the jelly texture of the cincau are a delicious pairing. And it’s super simple to make too!

You can find ready-made cincau sold in the refrigerated section at supermarkets, or alternatively you can buy cincau powder that you can use to make your own jelly at home. To prep your cincau, simply cut it up into diced pieces. When you’re ready to serve, add the diced cincau to the bottom of your glass, then pour over MAGNOLIA PLUS Fresh Milk with Kurma. Mix and enjoy!

2. Korean-style banana milk

If you’ve been to South Korea before, then you’re probably a fan of banana milk, the yummy drink that you can often find at Korean convenience stores and supermarkets. It’s a creamy and sweet beverage that would make for a great supper treat! For one serving, all you need is  ½ a cup of MAGNOLIA 100% Fresh Milk, ½ a cup of water, 1 ripe banana, 1 tablespoon of maple syrup (or you can use sugar instead) and a dash of vanilla essence. Blend everything together in a blender and serve! You can add extra diced pieces of banana for added texture if you prefer - just add them to your glass before pouring in the banana milk from the blender.

#HHWT Tip: Not in the mood to whip out your blender? Just mash the banana with the maple syrup and vanilla essence by hand in a bowl. Then add it to a jar, pour in your milk, and shake it up!

3. Hot or iced chocolate

Hot chocolate is a crowd-pleaser - great for both kids and adults! It’s a cosy way to end your night and is super easy to make. All you need for one serving is 1 cup of  MAGNOLIA 100% Fresh Milk, 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder, 1.5 tablespoons of brown sugar (white sugar works too!) and a dash of vanilla essence. Whisk everything up in a pot over medium heat until it’s hot. Then it’s ready to serve! Pour into a mug and dust with ground cinnamon or more cocoa powder.

P.S. Get two 1-litre packs of Magnolia 100% Fresh Milk for only SGD5.95 (usual price SGD3.50 each) from e-retailers and supermarkets, minimarkets & selected provision stores!

If you prefer a cold drink, make it iced chocolate instead! Follow the same steps as above, transfer to a large glass or mug and let cool slightly before putting it in the fridge to chill. When ready to serve, just add ice cubes and enjoy! If you have chocolate syrup, you can line your serving glass with it (or use melted chocolate) before pouring in the chocolate milk mixture and adding ice cubes.

#HHWT Tip: Looking for something a little unique? Try using MAGNOLIA PLUS Fresh Milk with Kurma in this recipe instead! With the natural sweetness of the kurma milk, you won’t have to add much sugar (try adding 1 teaspoon first, then taste and add more if you prefer it sweeter).

4. Peanut butter, banana and date milkshake

This smoothie combines some pretty delicious flavours: banana, peanut butter and dates! It’s also simple and fast to pull together, thanks to a blender. To make this drink, add 1 frozen ripe banana, 1 cup MAGNOLIA 100% Fresh Milk, 1 tablespoon of peanut butter and 3-4 pitted dates. Blend and enjoy! If you don’t have actual dates, just substitute MAGNOLIA PLUS Fresh Milk with Kurma instead!

5. Vanilla milk with honey and cinnamon

This is another super comforting drink that’s great to have at the end of the day! Made with milk flavoured with honey, cinnamon and vanilla, it’s a simple yet super yummy drink to enjoy. To make it add 1 cup of MAGNOLIA 100% Fresh Milk in a pot over medium heat. Add in 1 teaspoon of honey, a dash of vanilla essence and a pinch of ground cinnamon (or if you have a cinnamon stick, you can use that instead!). Whisk until everything is combined and the milk is warm (about 5-7 minutes). Pour into your mug, add a sprinkle of ground cinnamon on top and enjoy!

#HHWT Tip: Add additional spices like star anise or cardamom while heating up your milk for a more fragrant drink! For a delicious alternative, use MAGNOLIA PLUS Fresh Milk with Kurma instead! You can omit the honey completely or add a tiny bit for some additional sweetness.

6. Dalgona coffee

Dalgona coffee took the Internet by storm recently, and if you haven’t tried making this beautiful drink yet, you should! It’s super easy to make - just put two teaspoons each of instant coffee, sugar, and hot water into a bowl and whisk until the mixture turns into a light, fluffy, caramel-coloured cream (it’s much easier if you use a hand mixer or milk-frother!). Once you have your foam ready, pour yourself a glass of MAGNOLIA 100% Fresh Milk (either hot or cold, depending on your preference), and top it with the coffee cream. Mix the foam in and enjoy!

#HHWT Tip: Looking for a caffeine-free alternative? Substitute the instant coffee with Milo instead!
