Much to the dismay of some long-time fans, Disney Parks recently made the official announcement to check the 13-story Tower out of Disney California Adventure park in favour of a brand new Guardians of the Galaxy ride.

Slated to be completed in the summer of 2017, Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout! will feature many beloved characters from the blockbuster in a whole new narrative. You’ll get a different kind of adrenaline rush with this ride ;)

But of course, the (more than a decade old) attraction won’t be going down without one last scare! With Halloween season just right around the corner, park visitors are certainly in for a treat.

From 9 September to 31 October, evening visitors will experience the free-fall ride in complete darkness, called the Late Check-Out. It’ll also mark the first time the park has turned the lights out on the ride!

Commemorative merchandise, alongside special food and beverage, items will also be sold throughout the season.

And to immortalise your last ride, capture yourself “checking out” (complete with vintage luggage) with a special photo location in front of the Hollywood Tower Hotel marquee?

Don't be disheartened though! You can still ride the tower at other parks around the world like Walt Disney Studios Park (Disneyland Paris), Disney Hollywood Studios (Orlando) and even Tokyo Disneysea!

Let us know in the comments below what you think of Disney's decision to replace this terrifying yet iconic attraction?
