One of our favourite places to dine at in Singapore is definitely Deanna's Kitchen, a popular hawker stall which is known for its delicious halal prawn mee! The owner, Chinese-Muslim revert Denise Deanna found it difficult to find halal prawn mee that tasted like the version she ate growing up so she began to cook her own. Needless to say, we've always been delighted by yummy new additions to their menu.

This time, Deanna's Kitchen is in the spotlight because of their good work during the outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). Upon seeing reports of healthcare workers being discriminated on public transport and at food establishments, Deanna's Kitchen decided to get the public to donate meals to the frontline staff who are working tirelessly to treat patients during this challenging time.

P.S. Travelling to Singapore soon but not sure what to expect? Our writer shares her experience of visiting Singapore during the COVID-19 outbreak.

According to their Instagram page, they have started distributing a total of 420 free bowls of prawn mee with a total donation value of $1559. They will be continuing this effort for 2 weeks and deliver their prawn mee to healthcare workers across various hospitals in Singapore. What's even more heartwarming is that for every bowl that is donated, Deanna's Kitchen has matched the donation by sponsoring another bowl of prawn mee ❤️ If you'd like to chip in, you can reach them via direct message on their Instagram page @denisedeanna.

Deanna and her husband are also making the deliveries themselves as it's difficult to find drivers who are willing to deliver to hospitals. Deanna also said that she wanted to take the chance to thank the nurses personally for being so awesome.

After Deanna's Kitchen started calling for meal donations from the public, many nurses also spoke out about the sacrifices they have had to make and the stigma they faced when they were out in their uniforms ☹️

Not only is Deanna's Kitchen distributing their prawn mee, but they are also delivering these adorable cards which are made by Deanna's 8-year-old son, Adriel and his friends at Artsy Bugsy Studio.

Every packet of prawn mee delivered also comes with these "thank you" stickers, courtesy of Sticky Stacks. It definitely warms our hearts to see different businesses working together for a good cause ❤️

With the COVID-19 outbreak, many businesses and stall owners, including Deanna's Kitchen have inevitably suffered losses so it's amazing that they have stepped up to help others even when they are facing trying times themselves.

If you're planning to head down to any of Deanna's Kitchen's 3 outlets to give them a little support, you can look forward to some of their new additions, like this Seafood Bonanza ($35), which is perfect for 2-3 people to share! This combination of crayfish, New Zealand green mussels, prawns and clams is bound to make any seafood lover happy ? They have also started providing healthier options by including shirataki noodles (Japanese noodles made from konjac yam) in their menu. For those of you who feel like staying home instead, Deanna's Kitchen delivers their prawn mee too and you can order through their website.

Kudos to Deanna's Kitchen and the other kind souls who donated the meals to the healthcare workers! From the bottom of our hearts, the HHWT team would also like to thank healthcare workers for their undying effort in treating patients. Amidst the outbreak of the COVID-19, these kind gestures are a good reminder that we should continue to do good and help others whenever we can, and make this world a better place ❤️
