Craving authentic British-style fish and chips? You don't have to fly all the way to London for that! Head over to Cor Blimey, a Muslim-friendly British fish and chips. And yes, they don't use beer batter so you can enjoy the dish without worry!

What makes the fish and chips authentic, you ask? Well, the founder, Adam Hanrahan has roots in the UK. Being born to a Malaysian-Chinese mother and a British father, he was raised in the UK and decided to open a restaurant here in Malaysia after his studies.

Adam's entrepreneurial spirit led him to bootstrap his business using his life savings and investments from supportive friends and family. But he didn't embark on this journey alone. His partner and old college mate, Fadya, joined him to build Cor Blimey together. They make quite the dynamic duo!

Together, they spent months tirelessly searching for the finest fish and chips recipes from talented chefs, books, and the vastness of the internet. After lots of testing and perfecting, they crafted mouthwatering recipes that have been adapted and localized to cater to the Malaysian palate. Amazing, right?

From the beginning, Adam's goal was to make Cor Blimey the go-to place for the most authentic fish and chips experience. But he also wanted to ensure that everyone, regardless of their background, could enjoy their delicious offerings. That's why Cor Blimey is Muslim-friendly and doesn't use alcohol in its ingredients.

Now, some may argue that by not using beer batter, Cor Blimey may not be entirely authentic, as beer-battered fish and chips are a British classic. However, fear not! Adam assures us that their overall batter style still follows the tradition of local community shops in the UK. And don't forget, their handmade chips are entirely Brit-approved. Isn't that splendid?

Cor Blimey goes the extra mile to maintain its Muslim-friendly status. They employ Muslim cooks and use only halal-certified ingredients. Although they aren't officially halal-certified by JAKIM, it's because Adam believes the added costs and operational changes aren't necessary. But fret not, my friends, as Cor Blimey plans to pursue certification when they consider franchising and expanding across Malaysia. Exciting times lie ahead!

At Cor Blimey's charming restaurant, diners have the joy of customizing their own fish and chips set. You can choose from a variety of fish options, including the standard dory and the premium choice of cod. Plus, you get to pick two delightful sides! Prices vary depending on your fish selection, and there are also sharing platters available. How delightful to have so many choices!

Oh, and let's not forget about the homemade fish batters. Cor Blimey offers a delightful array of flavours like plain, lemon herb, onion garlic, chilli lemon, and western curry. These unique creations have even been imitated by some local competitors. That shows that Cor Blimey is leading the innovation in the fish and chips category. Bravo, Adam!

The sides are just as scrumptious, with classic chunky chips, creamy mashed potatoes, coleslaw, baked beans, and the beloved British favourite, mushy peas. And for those with a sweet tooth, you'll be overjoyed to hear that Cor Blimey serves deep-fried Mars bars, a beloved snack in the UK. It's like a taste of heaven!

So, if you're a fan of fish and chips, it's time to try Cor Blimey!
