Singapore's West Coast is not famous for its halal food, but there are lots of hidden food gems to uncover. ? From Mala Xiang Guo and Thai Beef Noodles at hawker centre prices to a historic rojak stall that's over 30 years old - whether you're at Clementi or Kent Ridge, this halal food guide to Singapore's West Coast is just what you need! ?
1. Jalapeno Southwest (Delivery only)
Jalapeno Southwest is a Muslim-owned family business serving up delicious Mexican food daily! Originally located at 321 Clementi, they've switched to islandwide delivery-only at the moment. While you may not be able to dine-in, you can check out their online menu and place your orders! If you're a meat-lover make sure to try their Fajitas, which come with grilled beef or chicken topped with fresh vegetables, and salsa picante. ? Make sure to order a side of chilli con carne to really complete your meal!

2. Thaksin Beef Noodle
Located in a hawker centre just a 5-minute walk from Clementi MRT, Thaksin Beef Noodle serves up Thai-style beef noodles packed with flavour. ? Personally, this is one of my favourite beef noodle stalls in Singapore. The beef chunks are tender, and if you opt to mix in tripe and other offal they're all soft and chewy too. The chilli sauce here has a strong sourness to it, so I recommend going easy on it if you're not a fan of vinegar! (And yes, you can request to not have basil leaves and coriander added to your bowl. ?)

3. Da Jie Niang Dou Fu
Da Jie is one of the most well-known halal Chinese hawker stalls in Clementi! They're mainly known for their Niang Dou Fu (or Yong Tau Foo), and they even have the less common Ampang version. ? Their menu also includes Laksa, Mala Hotpot, and even Chicken Rice so there's something for everyone!

4. HanSsik Korean Grill Barbecue Restaurant
There are only a handful of halal Korean BBQ spots in Singapore, and HanSsik is one of them! This all-you-can-eat BBQ buffet has 10 to 12 different types of signature marinated meats including beef bulgogi, marinated chicken, and spicy octopus. You can enjoy a hearty collagen hotpot for some added nutrition in your steamboat, or dip your grilled meats into their creamy cheese dip for extra indulgence. ?

5. Abdhus Salam Rojak
This Indian Rojak hawker stall in Ayer Rajah has been around since the 1960s! They've even served rojak to overseas Singaporeans in London, Sydney, and San Francisco during Singapore Day. Abdhus Salam Rojak was originally named for the founder's son, and Mr Abdhus himself has now taken over his father's business. They have so many kinds of items to choose from, and their sauce is sweet and spicy to give your plate a delicious kick. ?
P.S. They've even opened a spin-off eatery 'Ministry of Rojak' in Northpoint City!

6. SweeT.Rex
These are Singapore's first halal souffle pancakes! ? SweeT.Rex's soft and fluffy pancakes are dusted with powdered sugar and your choice of sauce for a perfect sweet treat. If you're not a pancake fan, you can get a cheesecake or milk pudding too. Just note that the pancakes take 10 minutes of preparation to get them extra-soft and bouncy.

This is THE place to be if you're on the hunt for amazing Asam Pedas! Asam Pedast Claypot Super only opened in 2019 but they've gained their fair share of loyal fans for their super spicy Asam claypot fish head. The dish is cooked in the claypot throughout, giving it a unique taste and keeping it piping hot throughout your meal. The asam pedas gravy is rich and sour - and you may want to get your water ready because we've heard it's super spicy too! ?

Hospital food has a reputation for being less than impressive, but A Poke Theory at Kent Ridge will prove that wrong. ? Located at One @ KentRidge connected to the National University Hospital Medical Centre, their colourful rainbow bowls are healthy, nutritious, and still delicious! Pick and choose your favourite fish or chicken, and add on vegetables and other toppings like Thai mango, kimchi, and crispy salmon skin to customise your bowl.

10. Big Bern's American Grill
Located at Timbre+ Big Bern's American Grill specialises in halal Southern Louisiana cuisine! One of their most popular signature dishes is the Cajun Chicken, which is marinated in their own Cajun spice blend before being charbroiled till it's moist and tender.
