Months after the first outbreak in Indonesia, the Covid-19 case numbers are still increasing. By mid-July 2021, the confirmed Covid-19 cases in Indonesia surpassed 2.5 million with 376.015 active cases at the time of publishing.
The local authorities are implementing restrictions across the country, as well as enforcing the security and restriction at the borders.
However, not all foreigners are banned from entering Indonesia. People can still travel to Indonesia for emergencies and under the following circumstances.

Who can travel to Indonesia?
- According to the updates released by Indonesia's Ministry of Foreign Affair on 5 July 2021, no foreigner is allowed to enter Indonesia's borders.
- Exceptions apply for:
- Diplomatic and service visas for ministerial-level officials.
- Diplomatic and official residence permits holders.
- KITAS and KITAP holders
- Foreigners from the country with bilateral Reciprocal Green Lane or Travel Corridor Arrangement.
- Foreigners with a special permit authorized by ministerial-level institutions.
Documents to prepare
- Vaccine certificate (full dose)
- A negative result from PCR test done within 72 hours prior to the departure
Procedure
- Register and fill out the electronic health alert card mobile application published by the Indonesian government.
- Undergo a PCR test within 1x24 hours of arrival in Indonesia.
- If the result is positive, then you must be treated in the local hospital at your own expense.
- If the result is negative, you must undergo self-quarantine for 8x24 hours.
- Your self-quarantine shall be paid at your own expense. You can choose the place from the list of hotels that are certified by Indonesia's Ministry of Health.
- Head of the foreign diplomatic representative may self-quarantine at their own residence for 8x24 hours.
- Undergo a PCR test on the 7th day of self-quarantine.
- If the result is negative, you are suggested to stay at home until the 14th day of the quarantine.
- If the result is positive, you must undergo treatment at the local hospital at your own expense.
- According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, if someone cannot afford their own treatment, then the sponsor or the institution that gave them entry permission should be responsible to pay.
- Exceptions apply for foreigners with diplomatic visas and ministerial-level officials.
Traveling within Indonesia
- Foreigners whom are already in Indonesia and willing to travel within the country must be vaccinated at least once.
- People must obey the health protocols with no exception.
- Travelers must provide vaccine certificates and negative results from PCR tests or antigen tests to travel from and to Java and Bali.
