If you're like me, and animals are one of your favourite things, Baobab Safari Resort needs to be on your bucket list! The resort brings the magic of South Africa's well-known safari resorts right to our doorstep here, in Southeast Asia. More specifically, in Surabaya, Indonesia. You'll be able to wake up and see wild animals such as giraffes, water buffalos, and rhinoceros (just to name a few) roaming around the fields. You'll be surrounded by mountains too, and experience pleasant temperatures with fog rolling in periodically.
Rooms

They offer many types of rooms for you to choose from such as Deluxe Safari, Deluxe, Premium Safari, Premium, Junior Suite Safari, Junior Suite and the Premium Twin Hill rooms. The difference between the Safari rooms and the normal rooms are the views. The rooms can fit a maximum of two people and all come with a balcony attached. There is free WiFi and toiletries in each room too! All of the double rooms have queen-sized beds.
The largest room by far is the Junior Suite Hill View which comes with a bathtub! There is also a refrigerator and a minibar too. The rooms are comfortable and you'll be able to get some much-needed rest and relaxation before heading off to your next activity!
Each type of room has either a view of the safari or the mountain so you can choose the view that you would like to experience!
All Safari rooms offer a view of the animals! If you're into animals, getting a room with a view of the safari will be a blast as you can't get this experience anywhere else in Southeast Asia!
What to do
They have a variety of activities that you can do! From feeding animals to visiting the Taman Safari Zoo Prigen right next door, it's a great getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city.
1. Animal Feeding

There are many animals that call the large open field home. Therefore, there are two animal feedings that you can take part in: The Giraffe Feeding or the Meerkat Feeding. The giraffes that roam the place are Zahara, Zahari and Camel! It'll be on a raised platform so you'll be up close with the giraffes as they bend down to grab the treats from you. The feeding happens at 8AM, 10AM and 4PM.
The Meerkat Feeding is a more intimate experience as the meerkats will jump onto your lap as you feed them out of a bowl in your hands. You can feed them at 8.30AM, 10.30AM and 4.30PM!
There are also Carnivore Feeding sessions with lions too!
All the funds from the feedings are also donated towards conservation efforts!
2. Breakfast With Giraffes
If you want to add some excitement to your morning, having breakfast with a giraffe will be the activity for you! For IDR1,000,000 (SGD88), 2 people can have breakfast with giraffes right next to you! You'll be on a raised platform where the giraffes can lean in and grab some vegetables available for the giraffes to feed on.

3. Swimming With A View
Their swimming pool is an infinity pool with an unobstructed view of the animals! You can enjoy swimming and lounging while animal-watching. The resort's main three giraffes: Zahari, Zahara and Camel will be there too!
4. Bird Watching Expeditions

If you're into birds, the quiet serene environment is perfect for a bird-watching expedition. The resort offers a bird-watching tour every weekend so if you're interested, book your stay on Saturdays or Sundays!
5. Night Walk

Another interesting activity that gets you close with the animals is the Night Walk. It gets you close to the nocturnal animals with a pre-prepared guide who will bring you around. It's an exhilarating activity that is akin to Singapore's Night Safari tram ride but on foot!
The zoo (Taman Safari Zoo Peigen) is right next door too, so you'll be able to enjoy more interactions with a larger variety of animals anytime during your stay!
