According to a press release by Indonesia's People's Consultative Assembly, Indonesian developer PT Kios Ria Kreasisigned an agreement with the American film studio in Los Angeles last month to build the 57-hectare, movie-based theme park in Bali. If you're wondering how big it is, it's more than the size of two Universal Studios Singapore theme parks! ?
The theme park will be located southwest of Bali in Pekutatan, Jembrana, and is slated for a soft launch in 2025. Wait, what is Paramount Pictures exactly? ?
For the uninitiated, Paramount Pictures is the company which brings you blockbusters like Transformers, Mission: Impossible, Top Gun, and Sonic The Hedgehog. You can expect loads of themed rides, larger-than-life movie set replicas and museum-like exhibits of movie costumes and props!
Under the Paramount umbrella is also children's television network Nickelodeon, so there may be attractions from the brand's iconic characters such as SpongeBob SquarePants and Dora the Explorer, which the young (and the young-at-heart) will love!
According to License Global, an area of the park will also be dedicated to honouring some of Indonesia's culture, myths, and folklore legends - the 'Land of Legends'! It will also feature the first Indonesian-inspired ride in an international theme park! ?
There are two thematic hotels you can check in for a stay near all the fun: the Paramount Grand Resort and the Nickelodeon Resort, both of which will feature characters and themes from the Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon universe ?

As if that isn't enough, the theme park will be set in an allocated “integrated area”, called Taman Kerti Bali Semesta, spanning a whopping 600 hectares. Expect a slew of residential areas, hotels, and resorts within it; even health centres and education centres as well! For entertainment, you can look to various sports and cultural parks, retail and dining establishments, and a golf course ?
The theme park is expected to attract as many as five million visitors annually, and we bet many of us will be flocking to Bali even more often now! ?
2025 is still years away, but if you're itching for thrills, check out these other theme parks! ?
