Akbar 24 hours Restaurant has been in the restaurant game for a while now. It's a restaurant specialising in Indian food such as roti prata and briyani! If you're staying near the hotels nearby, this is a great place to grab some late-night food without travelling far! But what is the draw for this restaurant?
Craving teh tarik? They sell their drink fresh and hot in either a cup or the old-school plastic bag! The cup goes for around $1.40, while the plastic bag packaging is $1.30. In addition to the delicious drink, they have a variety of menu options that they sell at the drive-thru as well! Everything on their menu can be bought here, so you won't need to find parking in order to grab a bite.
Some of the goodies that you can get are Maggi Goreng with Egg ($4), Roti John Mutton/Chicken ($4.50) and Tulang Merah ($10/$15). Tulang merah is basically a mutton bone marrow soup that is cooked with a ton of tomatoes, spices and of course the lamb bones. The bright red colour that the dish was named after (Merah) is enhanced by the use of red food colouring too. It'll definitely stain your hands so be warned!
There are also a ton of roti prata options such as Cheese Prata ($2), Banana Prata ($2.50) and Onion Chilli Prata ($1.80). With the wet weather season upon us, it's a great time to cozy up and treat yourself to some Kambing Soup ($5). It's basically lamb soup that you can have with the bone (for that sweet bone marrow) and mop it all up with additional bread (at $1).
Even if you're not coming by the road, you can still walk in as it is only a 6-minute walk from Tanjong Pagar MRT station!
