1. Jaw dropping scenery that will make you want to give a standing ovation at every turn you take
First off, you can’t mention New Zealand without talking about its gorgeous sceneries. Whichever kind of landscape you’re into, chances are, New Zealand has it! From lush rainforests to alpine peaks, from beaches to volcanoes, everything’s all there and in such close proximity to each other!

Something you definitely can’t miss? The Milford Sound Fiordland! Cruise down this dramatic landscape of deep waters, soaring peaks and cascading waterfalls, take a sea kayak or fly overhead for an unforgettable experience! Better yet, spend the night on an overnight boat trip! Imagine waking up to this magnificent view:
From fiords to glaciers, where else in the world can you find a glacier that descends into a lush rainforest? Hike inside an actual glacier or take a helicopter ride over Franz Josef or Fox Glacier located on the South Island of New Zealand.
Franz Josef is the world’s steepest and fastest flowing commercially guided glacier with dramatic landscapes that are not available anywhere else in the world!
2. New Zealand was made for road trips
There’s no other country like New Zealand for an escape down the wide open road.
Driving across the country will take you through diverse landscapes of majestic mountains, coasts as far as the eyes can see, serene lakes and so much more! We have to warn you – the scenery makes it difficult to keep your eyes on the road ?
Without a doubt, taking a road trip through New Zealand is one of the best ways to explore what the country has to offer ? The best part is, New Zealand allows freedom camping! Freedom camping is when you camp on public land that isn’t a recognised camping ground or holiday park. This means that you can camp in so many stunning locations (with exclusions on no parking areas or no camping signed areas in some towns) but only if your vehicle is fully self-contained.

So if you spot an amazing hilltop location on your drive into town, you could camp overnight there after checking that it isn’t privately owned and that there are no signs to indicate camping restrictions! For more information on how to freedom camp, check out this website.
3. Experience nature in all its glory across all four seasons!
The majestic mountains of South Island are a magical winter wonderland between June to September, with the best spots to ski or snowboard (even if you’re an absolute beginner!). Keep warm and relax at geothermal hot springs while enjoying a cup of hot chocolate ?
Spring in New Zealand (between September to November) is one of the best times to visit! The weather is lovely and crisp, the crowds are less, and the land is full of blossoms and ripe fruits for picking ?

No trip to New Zealand is complete without visiting the actual filming locations of the Academy-Award winning Lord of the Rings movies!
Whether you’re a hard-core fan who wants to retrace the entire steps of the Hobbits through Middle Earth (take the tour to get insights on the making of the films and visit favourite Hobbit hangouts) or if you’d just like to soak up the peaceful green hills and pastures where the Hobbiton movie set was built (it’s on an actual 1250 acre farm!) you’ll love experiencing the little farming town of Matamata.
