13 Stages is the latest halal-certified chicken rice eatery in Singapore, and it's where you can choose from not 1, not 2, but 7 different versions of steamed chicken rice! ? Opened by local comedian-host Mark Lee in 2017, its outlets were only halal-certified in 2020 so you can finally try their signature Imperial Chicken Rice.
The Imperial Chicken Rice ($9.90) is made with chicken legs (with the bone in!) steamed in bamboo steamers to keep the meat juicy and tender. The 7 flavours include standard versions like Ginger and Sesame as well as more unique options.
Spice lovers should give the Mala, Assam, Curry, or Indo Chicken a go - the Indo Chicken even uses galangal and lemongrass for a sweeter taste! For a healthier option, the Danggui Chicken is cooked with Angelica, red dates, and wolfberries that are a staple in Chinese herbal cooking. ?
Their menu also includes other fish and chicken dishes such as Mala Imperial Fish ($10.50), Crispy Chicken Rice with Green Chilli Lime Sauce ($5.90), and Chicken Floss Fried Rice ($8.90). There's even Chee Cheong Fun ($3) and Crispy Chicken Wings (from $4.80) which are great for a snack or a kid-friendly meal. This is one spot where the whole family can sit down to a yummy meal together. ?
Apart from their chicken, their other must-try is actually the coffee! They have a range of coffee made with beans from across Malaysia, including Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Selangor, and Kelantan varieties.
