1) The Lab SG (Permanently closed as of January 2018)

The-Lab-Cafe-Burgerlab-beef-with-spicy-rendang-gravy-Ramadan-menu-Singapore

The Lab is as its name suggests - a quirky experimental cafe that pays homage to Breaking Bad. Step into a scientific laboratory and be prepared to be greeted with test tubes, syringes, measuring tubes and more! Experimentation is reflected not just in the décor of the café but also incorporated in their food and drinks as they're constantly experimenting with new flavours.

Needless to say, The Lab quickly made it to one of our favourite cafes around.

When your pasta cravings hit, it's time to pay Krave a visit. Helmed by renowned Suria cook show host, Chef Sufiyan Safee, it's really not surprising that Krave is now at the top of the list of 'must visit' halal cafes in Singapore!

4) The Mad Sailors

The-mad-sailor-halal-food-cafe-fish-and-chips

The latest kid on the block (or rather Haji lane ?) is the place to be if you’re craving for authentic British grub! With a pretty extensive menu including classic British food such as fish and chips, bangers and mash (halal sausages of course) and even their own take on the classic salt beef bagel, you’ll be spoilt for choice!

The-Mad-Sailor-Halal-Cafe-Singapore-Haji-Lane

The Fish & Chips (we had the codfish) is pretty different from what we have in Singapore as the batter is really light and of course, super crispy! And forget those skinny fries, because we’re going for the authentic experience with actual thick chips. If you want to go all out, try it with vinegar and salt, like how they do it in the UK!

5) Wilder (Permanently closed as of January 2018)

Indie music plays on as you walk into this quaint little cafe built in an industrial setting. It doesn't get any more hipster than this. But not to worry, the atmosphere and setting is just one of the few things we love about this cafe. Wilder also serves a mean cuppa coffee and Western food with a local twist!

I Am... and & Why are sister cafes located within a stone's throw of each other but with very distinct personalities. I Am... is an European influenced cafe and is definitely the more flamboyant of the two cafes - not that it's a bad thing! From it's location (right at the front of the shopping lane at Haji lane) to its unapologetically huge servings of rainbow cakes and main dishes,  you just can't miss this open concept cafe!

#HHWT Recommends: Charcoal-grilled Beef Burger, Fish and Chips, Rainbow Mille Crepe Cake

Halal Status: Muslim Owned, Mosque nearby

Where: 674 North Bridge Road

Opening Hours:

Monday to Thursday - 9am to11pm, Friday - 9am to 1am, Saturday - 8am to 1am, Sunday - 8am to 10pm

7) & Why Café

HHWT Ramadan Iftar And why Cafe at Bali Lane Singapore

 & Why Café

The sister cafe of I am is more laid-back in comparison. There are certain desserts that both cafes have in common but & Why also has it's own signature menu - think New York deli style.

#HHWT Recommends: Softshell Crab and King Prawn Burger, mocktails, desserts

Halal Status: Muslim Owned, Mosque nearby

Where: 31 Bali Lane #01-01, S 189867, tel: 6291 0993

A cosy little hipster den that serves really good coffee and amaaaazing burgers. That's what most people know Working Title as. Did you know that these guys are also behind the Mexican cafe - Afterwit (refer to #2)?

10) La Marelle Cafe & Boutique

La Marelle looks exactly how we feel on the inside when someone mentions, "DESSERTS!". You definitely can't miss this bright and psychedelic cafe when you're around the area. A fantasy French-themed cafe is the perfect place to get your afternoon tea treats!

#HHWT Recommends: Cakes, cakes and MORE cakes! And well also their Croissant with Honey Baked Ham.

Halal Status: Muslim Owned, Mosque nearby

Where: 25A Baghdad Street, S 199664

Opening Hours: 10am to 11pm, daily.

Contact: Reservations done via Whatsapp +65 8138 7654

Of course, no cafe hopping trip will be complete without a cup of coffee! So even though we didn't mention it in our recommendations, these cafes serve a mean cuppa ;)
